A few hours before the start of the new year, I always go about reviewing the previous year and determining the best moments of each month. Although 2013 surely wasn’t the greatest year I’ve lived so far, it’s shown me the possibilities that lie in my future. I’ve discovered, I think, that I want to dedicate my life to better the health and wellness of others. With this newfound purpose, I’ve energized to welcome 2014. It’s going to be golden.
January: Training for my marathon by running each morning in sub-freezing temperatures.
February: Helping my team, the Fred Ayres Collective, win first place at my high school’s bowling club.
March: Earning fourth place at a forensic tournament.
April: My trip to Chicago with my AP Economics class.
May: Earning all 5s on my AP tests and the title of “National AP Scholar”. Pitched a one-hit complete game shut-out.
June: My all-night senior party. Starting my internship at Quicken Loans. Attending my first midnight premiere.
July: Volunteering on an urban farm in Detroit.
August: Starting my freshman year at Wesleyan University.
September: Joining the men’s crew team.
October: Completing my first marathon. Going on my first flight. Racing in a regatta.
November: Having Thanksgiving with my girlfriend, Sonia. Running my first 10K.
December: Getting through my first round of finals.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
