After nearly two years of studying in fits and starts, I sat for the MCAT just over a month ago.
I received my score recently, ending a period of almost unbearable waiting and worrying.
While I didn’t score as high as the goal I’d set in my new year’s resolutions, I take tremendous pride in my performance.
In an effort to level the playing field and assist other low-income students in their MCAT preparation, I’ve spent the last month creating a new website, TL;DR MCAT, based on the best practices I developed during my preparation.
The site includes,
- An exhaustive list of free resources on the Internet for content review;
- Strategies for effective studying;
- Strategies to stay motivated;
- Strategies for exam-taking;
While increasing diversity in the physician workforce necessitates a multifaceted approach, improving access to MCAT preparation materials is an important means through which more students can enter medicine and contribute to the evolution of our healthcare system.
